Our Graduate Program

Veolia aims to develop motivated individuals who are willing to think outside the box, share new ideas, take on new challenges, and help Veolia continuously evolve into leaders of the resource industry.

Being part of our graduate program is the ideal opportunity for someone who is looking for a challenging yet rewarding experience and wants to take a leap into a global organisation following the completion of their university studies.

As a Veolia graduate, you will be offered a unique and robust learning experience. The 12-month graduate program will challenge and enrich your learning to develop your skills, knowledge and confidence.  The Graduate Program is our commitment to developing talented employees through:

  • Structured training on both essential and technical skills
  • Networking opportunities
  • Mentoring
  • Coaching
  • Experiential learning
  • Real and meaningful employment

Our program follows the principles of our learning and development culture and combines on the job learning, learning through others and formal learning opportunities.  We have established five key pillars to help you succeed in your graduate journey:

Trainings pillars in SUEZ
Essential skills training

This forms a fundamental aspect of the program and focuses on equipping you with the essential skills you need to thrive in Veolia Water Technologies & Solutions.  Our essential skills program includes a wide range of in person and virtual learning across the following key topics:

  • Understanding Veolia
  • Influencing for results
  • Personal effectiveness
  • Presentation skills
  • Professional selling skills
  • Personal branding
  • Business acumen
  • Building a business case
  • Wellbeing
Core technical training

In many of our graduate positions, core technical training is needed to equip you with the tools needed to deliver the value expected by both internal and external customers.  This could include training on specific products or applications to ensure you have the depth of knowledge needed to succeed.

A member of our team will be able to provide you with further information on the technical training identified for the position you have applied for.

Role specific training

As with core technical training, we recognise that you need to be equipped with the skills to succeed.  In addition to the essential skills training provided to all graduates, some of you will require dedicated training to further develop your key skills.  For example, if you take on one of our commercial roles then additional sales training may be offered to maximise the effectiveness of your customer interactions.

Focused role

We have carefully identified roles from across our business which are key to fulfilling succession planning or growth needs within the business.  This means that we only offer opportunities which provide meaningful work to you and add value to what we can offer for our customers.

Support network

Your development matters to us and we want to help you get the most out of your experience on our graduate program.  As well as having a dedicated line manager, each graduate has a coach, mentor and HR manager identified to tailor their support to your specific development needs.

    Recruitment & Selection

One of the key principles of our graduate program is integrity – being honest and fair.

Our aim is to share relevant information with you so that you can decide whether the role and graduate program we have on offer at Veolia Water Technologies & Solutions are the right fit for you.

Each of the job opportunities linked to our EMEA Graduate Program has a specific job description. The job description provides details of the key responsibilities (i.e. what you will be doing) and the skills, experiences or characteristics we are looking for (i.e. what you need to be successful).  When we share details of the skills, experiences or characteristics we are looking for you will see us make a distinction between those that are identified as either:

    • Essential – a ‘must have’ for candidates; or
    • Desirable – a ‘nice to have’ for candidates.

Recruitment & Selection – Top Tips

SUEZ Recruitment SelectionWe strongly recommend that you thoroughly review the job description for the role(s) you are applying for.  In your application don’t be afraid to draw our attention to where you have already demonstrated the essential skills, experiences and characteristics we are looking for.

After your initial application, you will be contacted by a member of the local Human Resources (HR) team if you have been shortlisted for the next stage of the process. Due to the large number of applications for our positions we can’t contact all unsuccessful candidates directly, although you will receive an update on the status of your application through the local applicant tracking system.

If you are shortlisted, you will be informed about what to expect from the next stage of the process.  This could take the form of a phone / virtual interview, a face to face interview, role specific knowledge tests or an assessment centre.  It’s important that you know what’s expected of you so that you can prepare well – please ask questions if anything is unclear or you need any further information!

As a general rule, understanding what is expected of you and being able to demonstrate this to the hiring manager using a variety of specific examples will help to set you apart from the competition.  Giving us an honest overview of your strengths and development needs will help us to assess whether you are a good fit for the role in question and, if you are successful in your application, provide a solid basis for us to work with you on your personal and professional development.
