SUEZ Showcased Groundbreaking Customer Wins and Major Initiatives at WEFTEC

North America

SUEZ highlighted key customer wins that illustrate the company’s dynamism in the water sector, while announcing several initiatives demonstrating the company’s leadership in sustainability at WEFTEC 2019, held Sept. 23-25 in Chicago.

"SUEZ continues to advance the case for groundbreaking technology that can help solve the world’s most pressing water challenges,” said Yuvbir Singh, CEO for SUEZ – Water Technologies & Solutions. “These announcements show that our leadership in the water industry stems from a unique portfolio of technology and expertise.”

The contracts include the company’s participation in a new indirect potable reuse pilot in the state of California.

  • SUEZ will provide the Santa Clarita Valley Sanitation District of Los Angeles County (SCVSD) an enhanced membrane system using high pH reverse osmosis technology to support chloride removal at the wastewater treatment facility in Santa Clarita, California.
  • The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (Metropolitan) is embarking on a water reuse program in partnership with the Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County (Sanitation Districts). SUEZ’s membrane bioreactor (MBR) technology, LEAP*mbr, will be tested at the 0.5 mgd demonstration facility, the Regional Recycled Water Advanced Purification Center.
  • SYVAB, a local authority that operates a large wastewater treatment plant in the suburbs of Stockholm, was looking for a technology partner that could support a major MBR retrofit. SYVAB selected SUEZ’s LEAPmbr system, with ZeeWeed technology, which has earned a superior reputation in large industrial and municipal plants, for its compact design and high energy efficiency.
  • The City of Morro Bay, located on California’s central coast, selected SUEZ technology for California’s first indirect potable reuse project to use MBR. The new Water Reclamation Facility will provide required treatment for all flows and will include advanced treatment capabilities to provide purified water for injection to supplement the City’s groundwater supply

In addition to these wins, SUEZ will also highlight three initiatives within the company. They include:

  • A new partnership with Cetaqua that will ensure the sustainability and efficiency of the water cycle by building digital analytics tools to optimize ultrafiltration membranes and make recommendations on ways to reduce energy consumption and chemical usage.
  • The expansion of SUEZ’s mobile fleet to include containerized membrane bioreactors (MBR) systems for outsourced wastewater treatment needs
  • The release of "The End of Wasted Water," a new white paper written in conjunction with researchers from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business that highlights new developments in the push for broader adoption of water recycling technology.

SUEZ’s presence at WEFTEC will also include presentations on a variety of topics ranging from aeration systems to measuring metals and microplastics in wastewater.
