Australian Petrochemical case study

Petrochemical Complex Recovers Contaminated Ground Water Saving Water & Cost

An Australian integrated petrochemical complex was under pressure to reclaim contaminated ground water and reuse it within the complex. Faced with the concern that the cooling system performance may be compromised by the change in makeup water, Veolia was called upon to develop to adjust their cooling water treatment program.

North America DOX unit

Phase Separation Improvements Increase Ethylene Plant Flexibility and Profitability

A North American ethylene producer needed to improve the separation efficiency in the separator and Dispersed Oil Extraction (DOX) unit. Veolia recommended a program feeding an emulsion breaker into the quench water tower recycle, in conjunction with the injection of a process oil stream into the quench water separator.

Western Europe Styrene case study

Fouling Prevention for Styrene Plant Vent Gas

A West-European styrene producer experienced vent gas compressor fouling. The fouling rate depended on throughput and temperature, resulting in two production stops for compressor cleaning per year. Veolia proposed a treatment based on Styrex* chemistry in order to minimize the compressor fouling, resulting in boosting run length of the compressor to 18 months.

Plant turns to Veolia to Solve Water Scarcity Issues and Maintain Production

Tata Chemicals Mithapur Plant located in Mithapur, Gujarat, India faced shutting down if they could not find an alternative source for their water needs. Veolia evaluated the options and recommended a flexible Outsourced Water Services Agreement where Veolia would provide fresh water from the only available water source, seawater.

European Rubber Case Study

Rubber Plant Reduces Polymer Fouling

Polymer fouling, more particular styrene, in solvent recovery sections from synthetic rubber units is a well-known phenomenon reducing the unit run-length significantly resulting in high cleaning costs and reduced unit utilization rates. Veolia conducted a successful 12-month trial in a European Rubber plant with the objective to increase the reboiler run-length by reducing the fouling tendency in the solvent recovery system.
