ZW700B using SevenBore* fiber technology

Veolia's ZW 700B inside-out ultrafiltration (UF) membranes use a blended polyethersulphone (PES), allowing the membrane to stay permanently hydrophilic and reduce the fouling tendency.

When compared to granular filter media and cartridge filters, the ZeeWeed* 700B membrane produces superior water quality and is much more resilient to variable raw water quality.

Overview

ZeeWeed 700B Benefits

An inside-out SevenBore* membrane, available with Seabreeze or RMS, (Rackless Module System), technologies, ideal for low solids and seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) pre-treatment applications.

  • The ZeeWeed 700B is a pressurized hollow-fiber membrane employs a blended polyethersulphone (PES) allows the membrane to stay permanently hydrophilic and reduce the fouling tendency which is crucial to an efficiently run plant.
  • The product features SevenBore* fiber technology. This innovative design incorporates seven bores within each fiber, producing a mechanical strength that is 10 times higher compared to single-bore fiber.
  • The ZW 700B is a versatile product that can easily retrofit other ultrafiltration and microfiltration systems.
  • This unique membrane contributes to a lower operational and lifecycle costs by reducing power, maintenance, chemical and replacement expenses compared to conventional, pressurized single-bore UF options.

Applications

  • Drinking water
  • Industrial process water
  • Tertiary filtration
  • Seawater, brackish water, reverse osmosis pretreatment
  • Offshore Oil & Gas

How It Works

How It Works

ZW 700B products use very robust ultrafiltration (UF) membrane fibers that provide an absolute physical barrier to suspended solids and ensures an optimal removal of bacteria and particulate organics. The SevenBore* fibers have a superior mechanical strength which eliminates the operational issues related to fiber breaks associated with single bore fibers.

ZW 700B is a pressurized, inside-out flow, UF membrane module. ZW 700B is a very versatile product and can be installed either in a horizontal or vertical configuration. Additionally, the membrane modules can be installed either with or without a pressure vessel. Finally, ZW 700B products are available as an RMS (rack-less membrane system) or for installation on a rack.

ZW 700B operates by feeding pressurized source water to the module and into the membrane fibers. Once inside the fibers, the pressure makes the filtered water flow (permeate) across the membrane wall and out of the module. Meanwhile, the suspended solids, microorganisms and particulate organics accumulate inside the fiber.  At the end of the production cycle, the pollutants trapped inside the membrane fibers are removed by using a forward flush with feed water. Additionally, a backwash is performed to further clean the ZW 700B fibers after each production cycle. During backwash, pressurized clean water is driven across the membrane wall and into fiber. Thus, the remaining pollutants are flushed out of the module.

These cycles of filtration and backwash can be easily automated to keep operation simple and membranes operating in top form.
